Holidays are over; traffic is heavier

Today, traffic was heavier than last week, or at least it was heavier than I remembered. Instead of seeing 20 vehicles at any one time, I saw a steady stream during the morning rush hour. Last wee, you will recall, Tuesday and Wednesday were public holidays. It seems many people took the entire week off.

On this mornin's walk, I noted the big yellow trucks mentioned in yesterday's past are Mitsubishi Fuso’s, and, more importantly, I detected a noticeable quality to microlets.

White ones are on route 10; Aqua ones travel route 11; and, blue ones go along route 09. As I was repeating this mantra along my walk (so that I would remember this all-important info for armchair visitors), I spotted a lilac microlet. Fortunately, I did not see its route number, so I didn't have to cloud my mind with too much information.

You'd think this colour coding would make life simple for public transit users. Nope.  Individual microlet owners adorn the fronts of their vehicles. It's not as exotic as Pakistani bus adornment. Decals and appendages are added to the front, often obscuring the base paint colour entirely.

I've mentioned before that windows are often tinted. Cats-eye decals are particularly popular on windshields, as are banners that stretch across the top of a windshield. Add a saucy, sporty or godly saying to the bottom, and you've got a windshield with barely any spots with clear visibility.

Fronts and backs often have airbrushed artwork, and sometimes have 3D additions. These noses (for want of a better word) don't stick out far, but they do alter the appearance.

I like the diversity in appearances. It adds zest to the cityscape. It reminds me that, like Dorothy and Toto, I'm not in Kansas any more.
